There was a suspected malware attacks which affected publication of several newspapers across the US.
Affected are those publications which are printed at Tribune Publishing plants.
The print edition of Chicago Tribune was published without notices and classified ads on Saturday, and delivery was delayed, or it was included in the Sunday one. Their phones were also disrupted.
The attack has caused the timeliness and completeness of our newspaper in a statement by Marisa Kollias. However, the website and mobile applications are not affected.
The editor of San Diego Union-Tribune said that the virus started affecting on Thursday and became critical on Friday.
Los Angeles Times also had problems printing the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Papers which arrives from 3 to 4 a.m. instead arrived at 7 to 8 a.m.
It is observed that the cyber-attack was originated from outside the United States. This ransomware was a form of “Ryuk”, which are highly targeted, well-resourced and planned.
