LinkedIn data theft exposes 700 million users:

The personal data for 700 million LinkedIn users are up for sale, approximately including 93% company’s members. LinkedIn, however, denies this data breach by saying that the data has been scraped from other websites, including LinkedIn. Read more here

The European Union Commission has officially signed off data adequacy to the UK. It’s a big deal for UK businesses as it means that the EU will treat the UK as a country with essentially equivalent data protection rules. Read more here

Leeds firm fined £200k for nuisance calls by Information Commissioner Office (ICO):

The firm Brazier Consulting Services Ltd (BCS) was fined £200,000 by Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) after receiving 316 complaints of unlawful nuisance calls. The firm made over 11 million calls. Read more here

Facebook to face privacy lawsuit in Dutch Court:

Facebook will face privacy litigation brought up by two nonprofits organisations in the Netherlands. The case hearing will take place in October. Read more here

Google has to face Voice Assistant Privacy Lawsuit: US Federal Court.

The federal judge of the US court has said that Google must face a lawsuit. The lawsuit accuses the company of illegally recording and spreading the private conversations of people. Read more here

New Surveillance laws in Germany raise privacy concerns:

Recently, the German parliament amended the laws granting a great amount of surveillance to intelligence services and federal police, thus raising privacy concerns. Read more here
