Apple and Google block NHS app update over privacy breach concerns

Two Tech giants Apple and Google, block the NHS app update after data privacy concerns. As new updates allowed the users to share their location once they had tested positive – to upload all the list of venues they had checked in to using a QR code.Read more here.

Inquiry launched against Facebook after the latest data leak of 533 million users. Also possibility for Facebook for facing a mass action lawsuit over the 2019 data breach.

Ireland’s Data Regulator has initiated a regular inquiry into Facebook after the details of 533 million users were leaked on the hacking website. Furthermore, The Data Protection Commission said that it wants to determine whether Facebook infringed the EU-wide GDPR charter on Data Rights and the corresponding Irish Legislation. Disney and other ad tech agree to alter privacy rules for children apps

With other ad tech companies, Disney agreed to erase specific advertising software from children’s apps to address the accusations that they violated the privacy of millions of children. Read more here.

WhatsApp illegal data collection to be halted

Germany’s data protection regulator for WhatsApp and Facebook said that it is ready to take action to prevent the collection of personal data from its WhatsApp users. This year, Facebook and WhatsApp informed users that they would have to consent to new data terms or stop using the service. Read more here.

UK University faces major Cyber-attack knocking out Zoom

The University of Hertfordshire suffered a dangerous cyberattack knocking out all of its IT systems, including Office 365, Teams and Zoom, Wi-Fi, email, data storage and VPN. Read more here.
